I had read about this before but Rick Falkvinge the founder and leader of the Swedish Pirate Party spoke at the 2008 MySQL conference, which I happened to be at, and he refocused my attention to the cause. The Pirate Party wants to fundamentally reform copyright law, get rid of the patent system, and ensure that citizens' rights to privacy are respected. Arrrg, sign me up!
